Spark is a free event, occurring the first Wednesday of each month. Currently, 18 cities host Spark events at the same date and time. Spark events connect freelancers, enabling them to exchange ideas and learn from one another.
July’s event was a Peer-to-Peer business workshop. Memphis freelancers in fields such as floral, graphic and web design, photography, videography, writing, and creative branding talked over snacks and drinks. The key question of the evening: “What are other freelancers doing that could help me improve my freelance life?” Spark Memphis submitted a response to this question to the Freelancers Union. Read this short blog post from Freelancers Union for ours’ and others’ responses.
On Wednesday, August 5th, a few freelancers braved a stormy Memphis evening to attend our second Spark affair, Happy Hour Networking. Designed to be more low key than July’s Peer-to-Peer Workshop, the Happy Hour event allowed us to chat and get to know one another. Business cards exchanged hands, social media connections were made, Freelancers Union swag was awarded to a few lucky recipients; we’d call that a successful evening.
Nathan of Mainstream Images took some photos of the evening. For more info, check out his gallery on Instagram.
We hope you enjoyed learning a bit about Spark and how it can benefit you as a freelancer.
Again, we meet next on Wednesday, September 2nd. 6pm. Studio688.
The night’s topic is How to Hook Clients with an Authentic Story. Join us to meet some great people and learn from one another. Come find your Spark!
