To say social media is constantly changing would be an understatement—an understatement of an understatement, really.
Every day, there’s a new platform or hashtag. And learning all the nuances of each platform makes you want to take a trip back to the days of theFacebook.
But for Shannon Little, a strategic Marketing and Public Relations professional, the rapidly changing landscape is her passion and trade.
Shannon has worked with local companies, such as Huey’s, Lafayette’s and The Levitt Shell. She loves connecting with the Memphis organizations and finding unique ways to tell their stories. Read on to learn more about Shannon’s work as a Memphis social media maven.
Studio688: You’ve been freelancing for some time now, what would you say is the most important lesson you’ve learned when it comes to your work?
Shannon Little: Standing up for yourself is very important. I’m a very non-confrontational person who often goes above and beyond to keep people happy. I’ve learned to find balance between providing excellent customer service and not being taken advantage of through compromising my values and work standards.
688: We all have our go-to apps, tools or programs when it comes to work. What tool do you use the most?
SL: Hootsuite! I manage many different social media accounts, and Hootsuite is a key tool in helping me stay organized and get the best exposure for my clients.
688: Has your work changed any since you first started out?
SL: I work in a field that’s constantly changing, which is one aspect of it I love. There’s always something new to learn. When I first started in this field, Twitter was brand new, and nobody thought it was going to take off. Now, it’s become an indispensable tool for me personally, and I suggest most of my clients use it.
I’m now working on strategies to incorporate new social media platforms, like Snapchat and Facebook Live, into my work. But, by the time I master these, some other cool new tool or trick will pop up, and it’ll be time to learn that!
